Biography

My current paintings are the culmination of my life’s journey through art, garden design, architecture and travel.

Since 2009 I have lived in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where I create gardens, mixed media sculptures and paintings of the things I love.

Originally from the Hudson Valley in NY, I studied fine art at Ohio Wesleyan University, and the State University of NY at New Paltz, and landscape architecture at City College of New York. In recent years I have studied plein air painting extensively in Italy, France, the US, and Mexico. I spent a decade as a batik painter while in my 20’s, showing in national venues and winning awards. After staying home for 2 years with my baby daughter Francisca, I opened America House Gallery in Piermont NY which I managed for 14 years. In 2004 I founded Dragon Tree Design, a landscape design/build company, and wrote columns on gardening for the Nyack Villager and Hudson Valley Home magazine.

In San Miguel, I realized my dream of designing and building my perfect house, which my daughter calls my masterpiece! Overlooking a green hillside of native desert plants, and the skyline of the chapels of historic Centro, the house incorporated a studio, where I could concentrate my creative energies post construction.

Soon after, I began oil painting under the tutelage of Mary Brenneman and Carmen Jimenez, among others. My work has been shown in San Miguel at Gallery 46, the Biblioteca Publica, Cafe Muro, and Galeria Manuk A
at the Fabrica Aurora Art and Design Center.
